History
There are 3 possible Origins regarding his name.
The first one tells us about its Arabic origin as Al Bayt, which in Arabic means "House or Home".
The second tells us about a Roman inhabitant called Alvitus, so the name of Alvite would be translated as ¨The House of Alvitus¨.
The third takes us to the Acibeiro Monastery, for which it is believed that its name comes from its orientation towards the Alba.
Legends
¨DE ALVITE DIOS NOS QUITE¨, God save us from Alvite, is the saying by which the town of Alvite in the region is known because it was a village of very skilled and unscrupulous dealers, (painted and resold horses, sale of hornless cows, wine with water, supposedly rotten hams bought at half price etc...).
